Taipei International Computer Show (COMPUTEX 2024) officially kicks off today(4)! This year, COMPUTEX is heavily focused on AI, drawing significant global attention. Notable speakers include NVIDIA CEO Jensen Huang, and top executives from AMD, Intel, Qualcomm, and ARM, all addressing AI themes. AcBel Polytech Inc. ("AcBel”) (TWSE:6282) not only participates but also, for the first time, invites OmniOn Power to exhibit power solutions related to AI applications. The event runs from June 4 to 7 at the Taipei Nangang Exhibition Center. AcBel and OmniOn Power can be found at booth I 0409, welcoming visitors.
The AI wave continues to sweep the globe, seen as a critical factor in reshaping future human life. In recent years, the rapid development of various related applications and high-performance computing has made "power consumption" a significant industry pain point. Jerry Hsu, Chairman of AcBel, stated, "Due to power consumption, AI has opened new opportunities for the power industry. The demand for power supplies has risen from 3kW, 5kW, 8kW, and even higher, requiring solutions to improve efficiency and save energy. Thus, developing high-power, high-efficiency power supplies is a clear goal for the industry." Therefore, in response to market demands for AI development, the descriptions of the solutions exhibited are as follows:
Enterprise Power Solutions
To address the integration of power supplies for servers and networking, AcBel focuses on several industry-standard sizes, including CRPS, mCRPS, and Slim. Through highly modular designs, the same design architecture and materials are vertically integrated into different wattage ranges, significantly shortening the product development cycle and rapidly responding to market needs.
• CRPS/mCRPS: These are the latest generation products co-developed with top-tier server clients, supporting the high dynamic load characteristics required for AI and GPU applications. They utilize third-generation semiconductor designs (SiC/GaN) and meet the highest 80plus efficiency rating of Titanium.
• Slim: Continuously optimizing the structure and enhancing airflow design, these products address high back pressure issues in networking systems and are also Titanium-rated for AI/GPU applications.
• 48V Integrated Rack Solutions: In line with the increasing power demands due to AI chip advancements, AcBel offers 48V integrated rack solutions, including existing 5.5KW module power supplies and 33KW rack products, with plans to develop 8KW module power supplies and 48KW rack solutions, pushing product efficiency to 98%.
Consumer Power Solutions
• With the rise of ChatGPT and the subsequent AI server trend, consumer products' specifications are also being upgraded. The emergence of new-generation AI PCs and notebooks (NBs) with higher computational power GPUs demands higher wattage power supplies. Therefore, the adoption of ATX3.1 standards and PD3.1 support for higher output wattage is necessary to meet these needs.
• By incorporating the latest power topology architectures and modular designs, AcBel develops higher density, higher wattage platform designs to meet customer demands for compact, efficient, and high-wattage power supplies. For instance, the 150W DT is suitable for AI PCs, gaming, and workstations, while the high-density 240W PD3.1 adapter caters to AI notebooks and gaming notebooks.
OmniOn Power’s Solutions
OmniOn Power (previously known as ABB’s Power Conversion division and acquired by AcBel in 2023) is collaborating with AcBel in R&D, procurement, and product integration. During COMPUTEX 2024, OmniOn Power will showcase its latest high-power bus converters and point-of-load modules, which are designed to meet the rising power demands associated with the influx of AI.
